Skai Jackson may only be 15 years old  but she is got it all together with her “Skai Jackson Natural hair secrets” that has continuously kept her hair growing healthy and strong. On her Instagram page in 2015 she started documenting her natural hair journey. She posted this update:

“Thank you to @shaiamiel (The Curl Dr.) for trimming, washing, conditioning and helping my hair get on the road to recovery,” the star shared along with a photo collage of her new style. “After so many years of styling and putting stress on my hair, my hair needs a styling break. He gave me and my mom wonderful advice on how to manage and get my damaged hair back on track.”

“This is my hair in its natural/just washed state, and I should embrace it more #naturalhairrocks #lovemynaturalhair,” she continued, describing her locks. “*No. All of my past pictures are not weaves/fake hair/extensions. It was all my hair but I needed a cut so it can grow back healthy and stronger.”

Two years after it is amazing how much success she has achieved with her natural hair journey.

This year Skai in an interview with Hype Hair discusses her career, beauty but most of all how she manages to keep her tresses looking healthy and long.

HH: We noticed you rock a lot of really cute and intricate designs with your natural hair. What inspires your styles?
SJ: Usually when I go to red carpets, my stylist and I will get together and think of how we want the hair and makeup to be. Other times, I just let the stylist pick and try something new!

HH: Who are these stylists responsible for all your amazing hairstyles and what kind of tips have you gotten from them on keeping your hair healthy?
SJ: I work with Alexander Armand and Felicia Leatherwood. Felicia has always told me, whenever I’m not going out or on a carpet, to just keep my hair moisturized and in a protected style, and drink a lot of water. Especially in California because it is really dry here!

HH: What kind of styles do you rock when off the carpet?
SJ: Usually, I do a double-strand twist to keep my hair protected. I don’t like to wear my hair out all the time, so I will throw it in a bun, braids, or any other protective style. I also use all-natural products on my hair.

HH: What are those products?
SJ: Some of my favorite products I use are Jamaican Black Castor Oil, jojoba oil and Jane Carter’s products. They work great for my hair type.

HH: How do you define beauty?
SJ: I define beauty as not just being beautiful outside, but also on the inside. For example, someone who cares for other people, is willing to help others and is an overall nice person. Beauty isn’t just looks.

Skai Jacson talks about her career:

HH: When fans see you in public, what feedback do you usually get from them?
SJ: When I see the fans, they’re usually really excited—and surprised! They usually ask me for a picture, so of course I take one with them. I love meeting my fans, because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.

HH: How do you handle when people make remarks about you online – especially as a younger person in the industry?
SJ: I don’t let anything negative that people say bother me. Some people do have a lot of stuff to say about my age and my being in the industry, but I do what makes me happy. I have so many more supporters than haters. And not everyone is going to agree with everything you do.

HH: What advice would you offer to teens who struggle with confidence and self-esteem issues?
SJ: I would say, just know that you are beautiful—no matter what anyone tells you— and embrace yourself! Everyone goes through a time when they feel insecure, and that’s okay; you are beautiful for who you are!

HH: You’re back for a new season of the Disney show Bunk’d. How has that experience been for you so far? Do you still keep in touch with your old Jessie castmates ?
SJ: The experience has been great! We’ll be starting season three very soon, and it’s super exciting! We have so many new things coming up…big surprises, so I think people will love the new season. I do still talk to some of the cast from Jessie. We see each other at events, and sometimes they will come by and hang out on set. It’s fun to see everyone again.

More on Skai Jackson Career:

HH: Are there any other projects you have coming up that you can tell us about?
SJ: I am working on an animated series, which will be coming out soon, so I’m excited about that. And, I have other new projects coming up that I can’t talk about yet, but I can’t wait for everyone to see them.

HH: Time Magazine recently named you one of the most influential teens in Hollywood. How does it feel?
SJ: It feels great to be considered a role model for young people! I never thought anyone would ever consider me a role model or someone they looked up to. I hope that I continue to inspire many other kids, as I do now.

HH: Who are some of your own personal inspirations and role models?
SJ: One of my role models is Oprah. She gives to charities and stands up for what she believes in. I always used to watch her TV show when I was little, and I have continued to look up to her ever since.

HH: How do you stay so grounded and levelheaded in such a demanding industry?
SJ: I stay grounded by surrounding myself with friends and family who support and encourage me. I also have a great mom. Without her I wouldn’t be where I am today, and she has always made sure that I stay grounded, no matter what.

HH: What is some of the best advice you received when you first got into the industry?
SJ: The best advice I was given when I was starting in the industry was: Never give up no matter how many times you are told no—and be yourself. I have definitely kept that in mind over the years.

HH: What advice would you give to other young people who aspire to a career in acting?
SJ: If acting is something you truly want to do, then don’t give up. It might take a while to get where you want to be in life, but just know that something great will happen!

HH: What are some of your future goals, and is there something you would like to do outside of acting?
SJ: In the future, I’d like to have my own clothing line and start directing, producing and writing. Acting is fun, but I also think it would be cool to be behind the camera.
